The Most Important Daily Reminder
It's inspired by several sources at once. First and foremost is a blog post by Paul Graham, 'The Top of My Todo List'. In this post, Paul writes about a book by Bronnie Ware, a palliative care nurse who interviewed a lot of people near death about what they regret before they die. The book is called 'The Top 5 Regrets of the Dying'.
Most people were regretful before they died:
— I wish I'd had the courage to live a life true to myself
— I wish I hadn't worked so hard
— I wish I'd had the courage to express my feelings
— I wish I'd kept in touch with my friends
— I wish I'd let myself be happier
"If you had to compress them into a single piece of advice, it might be: don't be a cog. The 5 regrets paint a portrait of post-industrial man, who shrinks himself into a shape that fits his circumstances, then turns dutifully till he stops."
— Paul Graham wrote in his post
So, the idea is to prevent these regrets by adding a daily reminder to yourself:
— Don't ignore your dreams;
— Don't work too much;
— Say what you think;
— Cultivate friendships;
— Be happy.
This Climb is about that. Start small. For the next 30 days, these five tasks will meet you at the top of your to-do list every day.
