Three Good Things

by None

Three Good Things is a simple practice that helps you tune into the positive events in your life.

Time Required

5 minutes a day.

How to Do It

Write down three things that happened to you today. Try to describe why they went well.

The good things can be everything: from small events like a kind gesture from a stranger to more important milestones like a dream job offer.

To make this exercise a part of your daily routine try to do it before going to sleep.

How It Works

In our daily routine, it's easy to get caught up in the bad things and feel unhappy. At the same time, we adapt to the good things and people, taking them for granted. Because of it we often miss everyday beauty — a smile from a stranger or the beautiful sunset on an enjoyable evening. As a result, we lose opportunities for happiness and connection with life.

This Climb can help change those tendencies. Whereas feelings like disappointment are natural and have an important purpose, it can be hard to focus on them. By writing down three positive things of the day and reflecting on what caused them you help your mind to look for sources of goodness in your life.

This habit can change the taste of your life, empowering you with positive feelings of appreciation — which is why this practice results in significant increases in happiness.
